Current Beauty Favourites (May 2018)

Monthly favourites were one of my most frequent posts on my blog when I first started 8 years ago and I would like to bring them back as a regular feature to tell you about some of the beauty products I’ve been loving recently!

I wholeheartedly would recommend every product I mention in this post so hopefully you’ll be able to find some new favs through it too!

Bite Lip Mask (link)

It’s been well over a year since I finished roaccutane but my lip STILL feel dry.  I’ve pretty much succumbed to the fact that they are going to feel permanently tight after being on such an intense medication for 8 months but this lip balm has been an absolute treasure for those bad days. It’s really thick and I mean really, like almost a sticky thick glue consistency but it melts gorgeously on the lips and also smells like vanilla. Even though it’s a lip mask, I’ve been using it as a balm and reapplying multiple times a day to keep my lips kissable!

The Ordinary Foundation (link)

This has definitely been one of my favourite purchases of the year already and I don’t know how I lived without it! It’s the most gorgeous light, silky serum foundation which glides onto the skin and just evens everything out. It looks really natural which I adore (and never thought I’d be able to get away with wearing), with just the right amount of coverage which lasts really well on the skin. My new holy grail foundation.

Evo Conditioner (link)

I have long, thick, bleached hair which is hard to manage & not in it’s best condition, so I’m always on the hunt for new masks & products to help soften my hair. Girls, this stuff is incredible. It’s a thick balmy conditioner which feels more like a mask on the hair and after washing my hair is left soft & manageable! It also smells gorgeous, like a sexy man’s aftershave (haha) and comes in a handy pump bottle which makes using in the shower really easy. I would definitely repurchase this over and over.

Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara (link)

Breaking news: the hunt to find my holy grail mascara might have just ended. I was sceptical about the hype surrounding this mascara when it was first launched by Benefit earlier this year, but man this stuff is GREAT. I’ve just finished my first tube and nothing else quite compares. It really lengthens my lashes, holds a curl & isn’t clumpy in the slightest. Bravo Benefit!

Clean Reserve perfume (link)

I was introduced to the Clean Reserve brand for the first time last year and since then my collection of their fragrances has been growing. This Hemp & Ginger scent had me melting since I first spritzed it on my wrist – it’s masculine, spicy and irresistible. The Clean Reserve brand and their ethos is also something I really love & support.

Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat Palette (link)

I’ve always steered well clear of warm eyeshadow tones in favour of cool taupes & stone shades but this little palette was too adorable to resist trying out. I’ve actually fallen in love with wearing brighter shadows thanks to this baby and now feel confident in warm shades – they make my blue eyes really pop and it’s a welcome change to my makeup regime!

The Body Shop Amazonian Saviour Multi-purpose Balm (link)

This little balm has been going everywhere with me recently and it’s been truly worth it’s price as I’ve used it for so many different ailments! Firstly this has been one of the only things (along with Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Balm) to help calm my eye eczema – I just apply a layer of it on my eyelids before I sleep and they’re a lot less inflamed in the morning. Secondly it’s been amazing on a new tattoo I had in April (I show the new tattoo in this vlog if you’re curious!).

Murad Rapid Age Spot Correcting Serum (link)

I have a couple of skincare concerns at the moment: I still have some acne scarring left on my cheeks & I’m also weary about protecting my skin against aging & dark spots as I turn 30 in a few months. I’ve recently been using this Murad serum which is clinically proven to minimise dark spots & visible signs of aging. It smells lovely and it sinks right into my skin leaving it feeling plump but not sticky. My skin is starting to look clearer and more even so I’m looking forward to seeing more results as I continue to use it! Warning though, this stuff is pricey!

I also thought I’d add a couple of extra favourite’s into this post being as I haven’t updated in a while.

Song: Gap by the Kooks – Now the reason behind me loving this song is really lame but I’m being honest. I’ve always loved The Kooks and randomly discovered this song a couple of days after Echo, my hamster, passed away in March. The lyrics really resonate with loosing someone and so it became Echo’s anthem. I can’t sing along to this song without my voice breaking & tears forming in my eyes as it reminds me of her. And it’s generally a brilliant song. Go listen.

TV show: Evil Genius (Netflix Documentary). I spoke about this on my instagram stories last week and so many of you have been messaging since to say you watched it and loved it. It covers the case of the Pizza Bomber which I’d heard about on various podcasts previously, but seeing actual footage of the crime really got me. One of the only true crime docs on Netflix to have made me cry within the first 15 minutes.

_______

That’s everything! If there’s anything you’d like to read on my blog soon do let me know as I’m in the writing mood.

What’s been your favourite beauty product from the past few months?

I’m really liking the sound of that Body Shop balm. I’ve been getting patches of eczema on random parts of my body lately too and I’m thinking this balm may help. I’ll definitely pick it up in-store if I come across it. Thanks for the great recommendation!

Thank you so much for this amazing article. Definitely, i am gonna use these after my completing tattoo healing. Actually, I recently got few tattoos on around my neck in a painless tattoo session with use of the best tattoo numbing cream. Btw, keep updated us with your amazing posts!
