Wedding Planning Update – 3 months to go!

In 3 months time, I will have a husband – aaaaaahhhh!!

I can’t believe we are so close to the big day now after a year and a half of being engaged and a year of planning. Things are starting to feel verrrry close and very real, the butterflies are setting in big time. It’s what I fall asleep thinking about and what consumes most of my brain throughout the day.

I thought I’d start documenting the final few months of the planning as this is where things really start ramping up. Over the past year we’ve been so great at finding the main suppliers for the day, making decisions and booking them in, but now it’s all the little details and of which there are SO many. I realised I’d have loved to have read or seen how other people are spending their time planning in these last few months, so I’m sharing my journey here too! I imagine I’ll do a 3 month, 2 month, 1 month and a 2 week countdown and then of course, I’ll document the day in full once it’s done complete with pictures and videos!

So, a little look at where we are at, currently!

We have booked:

Venue, Caterer, Photographer, Videographer, Evening Entertainment, Hotel, Dress, Shoes, Grooms outfits, Bridesmaids dresses, Florists, Booze, Photo Booth… I think that’s everything!

We created a wedding website and send our invitations out last week (they’re beautiful, I can’t wait to show them to you), and now the RSVP’s are rolling in. Writing the envelopes was also a great way to practise my calligraphy for the big day as I’m going to be using it A LOT for the props + settings. I took a wedding calligraphy course last year with The Modern Calligraphy which I highly recommend, it taught me loads of tips and tricks and has given me the confidence to do my own for our day.

In the last two weeks we also visited our venue for the final time. This was a lovely opportunity to see it once more, walk through the rough steps of the day and also to go through the timeline hour by hour with our caterer who has been INCREDIBLE. I can’t wait to shout about Marie our caterer after the day and recommend her to you all, she has helped us in so many ways with planning, ideas and she is making our dream meal come true! She even went as for as to help us time how long it’ll take the bridesmaids to walk down the aisle so we can practise beforehand, which was a really lovely moment!

We also recently chose our wedding rings! It was so fun to try on some gorgeous wedding bands and to also see what G looks like with jewellery, as he’s never worn any before. For the bands, I chose a rose gold band with a row of diamonds to compliment my engagement ring and G’s is an incredible tri-colour brushed metal, thick band which looks different depending on the lighting. Next we need to choose what engravings we want and send off my engagement ring to be polished and resized slightly too.

We need to pop to Majestic to order all the fizz for our wedding. We decided to go with them as they have some fantastic deals – cheaper bottles if you buy multiples and they also have a service where they can buy back from you any bottles that weren’t needed on the day. They are also delivering the drinks directly to the wedding venue on the morning of, which saves us stressing about another thing. We decided on the white and red wine for the day after a tasting in their South Woodford store, but it took us a little longer to decide on the drink for the toasts, but we’re ready to order it now!

Next on our list:

I am currently in the process of booking all beauty appointments and trials for the lead up to the wedding. I need to find somewhere to get my nails done with my mum and sister (we’ll make a day of it), but I’m also booking in to have HD Brows, a Nouveau Lashes lash lift (or lash extensions, undecided yet), wedding hair and makeup (Bobbi brown are doing my makeup for the day – stupidly exciting!!) and the gorgeous Jack from Samantha Cusick is doing my hair so we have the trials for those soon too! I’m also treating myself to a round of Hydrafacials at the Cavendish Clinic in Fitzrovia to get my skin perfect for the day – seriously one of my favourite treatments, I can’t wait (I’ll review this in full on my blog soon)!

I’m really excited to choose what fragrance I’ll be wearing on the day, a hard task as there are so many beautiful perfumes I love! I’m going to make some more content on this as it’s something I’m really excited about.

Then in terms of venue setting and decoration, we know what we want to do for favours, place-cards, seating chart, menus, table numbers, activities – but now we need to make them happen! Lots of little details. We can’t have open candles in our venue so I’ve ordered loads of LED-flickering candles for the tables but we may need to order more.

We have to decide:

We’re having the lovely Minoux Florists do our wedding flowers, everything from button holes, bouquets and tables, so I need to arrange a call with them to finalise the colours for the day. I want the colour scheme to be bright-ish and in keeping with what’s in season.

It has felt really therapeutic getting this all down on paper/keyboard! There’s still just so much to think about, I’m sure I’ve missed out loads, but I can’t wait to update you in the next couple of weeks about how my beauty trials and appointments go!

Lots of love,

Katie x
