I’m bringing back the beauty reviews to the blog, specifically foundation reviews! You know I’ve struggled with acne and blemishes and I’m always on the hunt for the next best product to help cover my scarring and help make me feel confident in my skin. I’m also quite pale and used to find it very hard to get shades fair enough to suit my skin without oxidising and leaving an orange cast on my face. I know these types of reviews have helped a lot of you in the past, so hopefully this new series will too!
So today I’m trialling the Longwear Soft Matte foundation in the shade 125.
Colour: The colour of this foundation is perfection on my skin and best of all the shade selection in this foundation is HUGE and with 50 in total, I think there truly will be a colour match for everyone (I wouldn’t have expected anything less from Rihanna!). There’s a mix of shades with cool and warm undertones and so far I haven’t experienced any oxidation when wearing this product too!
Formula/texture: The coverage here is medium to full, covering my redness and evening out my skin tone beautifully, however I found I needed a tiny bit of concealer to really hide a couple of individual acne scars. I tend to avoid mattifying foundations because my skin can be quite dry due to acne treatments and I’m worried they will cling to dry patches, however the formula of this foundation does not massively emphasise dry skin – only around one spot on my chin did it look patchy which would have been sorted with an exfoliation or extra moisturiser. On the rest of my skin it leaves healthy, even, matte and natural finish which doesn’t look cakey.
Price: The foundation retails at £30 for 32ml – expensive but if you have oily skin and like a matte foundation this will be good for you!
SPF: This contains no SPF – good for those wanting to use it for wedding day makeup/professional photo shoots, but a shame otherwise!
What I think: I like this foundation! I love how natural it looks on my skin and how well it matches my skin tone. It lasts well on my skin because of its matte formula and helps to cover redness and even out my skin tone. I’ll be interested to see how this wears throughout the colder, winter months, I’ll keep you updated as to how it fares!
