Christmas Gift Guide – Unique Small Business #1

I’ve enjoyed writing this post SO much so I hope you all enjoy it. This year for Christmas I am shopping small business as much as I can and it’s been an absolute joy to purchase from and discover some beautiful little brands. Here is my first of 2 posts talking you through them!

Earl of East – Link

A brand I simply can’t get enough of (and wish I had invented), the Earl of East is run by Niko and Paul who founded the brand in 2014. They had a real passion for fragrance and so they set up Earl of East specializing in candles in their home in Hackney, East London. Their Smoke & Musk fragrance is my DREAM smell, I can’t get enough of it (so much so I couldn’t resist also getting the room spray of the same fragrance which I spritz at any opportunity I get) and they stock lots of other small business – ceramics, homeware and books in their Hackney studio that you can also visit for a candle making workshop!

Oh My Clumsy Heart – Link

I’ve been following Sophie, the creator of OMCH for YEARS now and have treated myself to a couple of her jewellery designs in the past. Her jewellery is hand crafted and created using fine metal with simple, intricate, delicate designs sold at a fair price. Most recently I treated myself to this hand pendant on a beautiful gold chain which I can’t wait to wear out – it’s completely unique to anything I’ve seen on the highstreet and such great quality! I love.

Eat Mielies Weird Illustrations (link)

Okay firstly, Kim, the woman behind Eat Mielies, is one of my favourite humans on the internet. She makes me laugh with her Instagram stories on the daily (with her cat Gimli) and she owns one of my most loved small businesses, Eat Mielies Weird Illustrations. I get SO many questions about where I get my vulva +penis mugs from and this is the brand. They also have amazing t-shirts, socks, gift cards, stationery and more.

Letterbox Gems – link

Founded by a lovely woman named Gemma, Letterbox gems curates gift boxes featuring products from up and coming independent British brands! Each box is designed and package to fit through a letterbox and there is a real passion for sustainability and conscious shopping at the heart of this lovely small business. I have the Luna box which contains a Sloane Stationary notebook, an Up Circle Organic Cinnamon & Ginger chai soap bar and more.

Scruffy Designs – link

A small business RIGHT up my street – scruffy designs is the brainchild of a 30year old artist who, rightly so, hated taboos and the stupid rules that women are taught young e.g. girls don’t talk about sex/behave like that/must always be pretty. So she started this brand to put a finger up at that and to put a smile on people’s face. On Scruffy Designs you can buy cheeky prints, gifts and stationery with the cutest illustrations.

Jiggly Bits by Alice (link)

One of my favorite homeware ornaments, booby pots! I found Jiggly Bits via Instagram and have since bought one of these gorgeous pots as a birthday gift for my mum. They are all unique and handmade by the lovely Alice and the cutest alternative plant pot gift.

Stella Arenillas Art (link)

Stella is one of my oldest friends, my old housemate and a brilliant artist who creates gorgeous abstract paintings from her home in London. She finds inspiration in meditation, nature and astrology and I could watch her painting for hours as it’s so relaxing! You can buy the originals of each painting OR a print which looks so gorgeous framed in any room.

I hope this post has been helpful for those still doing their Christmas shopping! Remember to get your orders in ASAP from small business so they can ensure products are made/sent out in time!

Let me know if you order from any of them too!

Lots of love, Katie x
