Personal Goals I’ve Set Myself.

I know, I know, I’m so late with my goals and resolutions for this year! I actually planned them back in early December but am only now getting round to writing them up now.  This was partly down to the fact that 1) I think it’s nice to set your goals in stone mid Jan as it gives you time to put them into motion a little more and 2) because I’ve re-jigged and revamped my blog!  I moved over from blogger to wordpress with a fancy new layout which I hope makes navigating and reading the site a lot easier!

Anyway, back to the post…

I’m really happy with the goals I’ve set myself this year. I never do your typical ‘go to the gym, loose weight’ resolutions as I just know I’m setting myself up to fail, so I rather try and focus on things which will impact positively on my mental health and daily life instead!  Here they are:

FEEL LESS GUILTY

This is a BIG one for me. I feel guilty about 80% of the time about something or another and it leaves me feeling down, worthless and even more unmotivated than usual! Also, it’s normally over such silly things that really aren’t worth my worry or time. I know that guilt can sometimes have a positive effect on people as it makes them work harder or make up for something, where as mine just leaves me feeling so deflated, stressed, not good enough and so it needs to stop.

I think it doesn’t help that I work at home and so any spare time I do have at home, I feel guilty that I’m not being more productive. I feel bad for sitting on the sofa in the evening and watching telly when I could be writing blog posts… you get my drift. Also even things like; I haven’t filmed 100000 videos and written 330 blog posts therefore I am inadequate and guilty of not working hard enough.

I’ve been trying to tell myself off (in my head, ha) whenever I feel these thoughts coming and it’s helped a lot so far. I’m allowed down time and days where I’m not as productive as other’s and it isn’t something to punish myself about.

ENJOY IT!

Another one to try and improve my mental health and general wellbeing – S T O P AND E N J O Y THINGS!

I often get worked up and worry over the little things that I forget to step back and realise that my life right now is incredible and that I need to enjoy it! I am so lucky to have the most amazing job with lots of great life experiences and I need to relish every moment and learn to actually ‘live’.

Therefor if I’m feeling rubbish about myself or work I’m going to write a list of all the positive, great things that I’m grateful for to try and enjoy life in the present.

HAVE A ROUTINE

I’m pretty sure this has been a goal of mine before, but I want to nail it this year. I need a routine. Wether it be getting out the house once a day for a brisk walk, waking up earlier to do some stretching, reading before bed, visiting coffee shops for emails – I feel like I’d really benefit from having a routine! If you have something you do every day which helps, let me know!

HAVE SEX

I was unsure whether to actually post this one on the internet forevz, but it was on my personal list of goals and I’m ALWAYS one to be honest, so here it is.

I had sex once last year. My first year of being single after being in a relationship for 4 years and all I could muster was the courage to get intimate with just one guy.   I think I had plenty of opportunities (especially with the amount of dating I did in 2017) but I always freaked out and talked myself out of getting physical if it was on the horizon.

But, I’m a 29 year old lady and I enjoy sex and so I want to have more of it this year. Simple!

___________

I’m hoping I’m not the only one with these types of goals for this year!  I’d love to hear what yours are too, let me know in the comments below!

The photos in this post are by the beautiful Rebecca Need-Menear (website here) (Instagram here).  We actually shot these quite a few months ago but for some reason I felt too insecure at the time to post them at the time!  Perhaps that should be another goal of mine, more self confidence!!

What are your goals this year?

Lots of love,

Katie

I love these goals!! Your such an open book and I love it. I’m trying to be like that on my blog & youtube but im such a shy person it takes a lot for me to properly open up haha. I’ve been reading your blog a while but I’m a silent viewer (if thats what they call people who don’t comment haha) so I’ve never commented but I thought I would now haha. You are LITERAL goalsssss!! like, you just seem to be so happy, enjoy life & you even show the bad parts which i think is so good as life isn’t always happy. Your blog and youtube are amazing!!! LOVE THIS POST!! xx

Oh, I could relate to each one of these so much!

I constantly feel guilty about everything, and in turn feel down – it something I’m trying to work on, no one should feel that way.

I’m glad you included the sex one! I didn’t have sex once last year (as a 26-year-old woman) because I was single and have steered pretty clear from sex since my last break up – but, as an adult it something I should be able to enjoy.

Good luck with all of your goals, I really enjoyed reading them 🙂 x

I’m in a long term relationship and I’m pretty sure you’re still having more sex than me, haha! One of my biggest resolutions is to be more intimate with my boyfriend. It’s SO easy to get into a bit of a sexless slump, so I must make more of an effort!

    Katie,

They are all great goals. I especially like “have a routine.” I know myself, I like to have a set routine. Things seem to run so much smoother for me. My goal this year is trying to drink more water. I know it seems like such a small goal, but I always feel so much better when I am hydrated.
