REVIEW: Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel

I’ve mentioned a lot on this blog about the fact that I have and still do suffer with acne and it honestly has the ability to completely ruin days, weeks, special occasions and events for me.  No matter how many good things I’ve got going on around me, if I have bad skin, my confidence is completely low and diminished and I find it really difficult to snap out of that low mood.

I have beaten acne a few times in the past with antibiotics but I’m also always on the look out for products to clear my skin and leave me feeling happy and confident again.

Clinique have just bought out a brand new product; the Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel – a little tub of wonder!  Read on to see what I think of it.

What I think: The gel is 4-in-1 product which helps treat and prevents future breakouts, as well as exfoliating dead skin cells to help unclog pores, whilst also reducing surface oil.  It contains Salicyclic Acid (a wonder ingredient in my opinion, my skin works really well with this stuff) which helps to exfoliate.  This also contains Sea Whip Extract (something I hadn’t heard of before) which calms and soothes skin, whilst reducing redness.

Clinique recommend applying a thin layer of this gel all over your face after cleansing if suffering from bad acne (however not with other leave on acne treatments and please, please make sure you apply moisturiser over the top to stay hydrated as this could dry your skin out) but I’ve been using it as a spot treatment applying it directly to the blemishes before bed time.  They recommend using it alongside a 3-Step Skincare System if used this way, so I’ve already had a play around with the Anti-Blemish Solution range.

I’ve been using the gel for a couple of weeks now and I already like it a lot.  I’ve had terrible skin whilst trying it out and it seems to be finally calming down now

It’s only until I’ve had bad skin and overcome it, that I really appreciate how clear skin makes me feel.  It sounds pathetic for something so little to make me feel so small but it’s true!

The Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel is available nationwide from 21st March (today!) at www.clinique.co.uk.

I completely understand your pain, I do. Back in high school/college/uni I had terrible, acne-prone skin. I'm 31 years old now and I still get the occasional hormonal breakout but thankfully the majority of my acne seems to have disappeared throughout the past five years or so. I learned that I had to be meticulous when it came to keeping my skin cleansed and exfoliated, changing my pillowcases weekly, not touching my face as often, and selecting the proper makeup to use on it.

It's a struggle and on those days when I DO get the odd spot or two, I don't even want to leave the house. The only advice I can offer you is to keep your face, hands, and laundry clean and maybe try using cold water when cleansing your face instead of warm or hot. You'll get through this Katie. Stay strong! You're incredibly beautiful xx

Good for you that it seems to be working! I *think* I've finally found 'my' routine and 'my' products too now.

I totally understand what you're saying. Having bad skin makes my confidence drop and can ruin days. It probably seems weird for people who have clear skin all the time, but that's how it is, haha. Let's cherish good skin days together, haha. This product does seem like a good spot treatment. Forever on the hunt for my ideal skincare routine. xx

Hi Katie I ADORE your blog!! I was just wondering, would you ever consider making a video/blogpost on how you cut and style your fringe? It always looks perfect and I am really considering whether I should cut it or not, I am just really unsure on how I would style it to make it look like yours! 🙂
Hope you'll share your secret haha..

Hi Katie, Lovely post indeed. I also suffered from the same problem and tried almost EVERYTHING & nothing worked at all. But I finally found something really worked for me, I recommend you all who suffer acne to try the Body Shop Tea Tree oil. It works wonders & You're gonna thank me for it.
You just put some drops here and there on the areas where acne grows and you'll see they're gonna clear up in days..!! I personally tried the Tea Tree mask and the scrub as well, but I don't suggest wasting much money on the whole kit just start with the oil and then you might like to buy the other stuff.

Is this similar to their spot treatment gel they once had? It's awesome that the packaging is so much bigger now! Have you tried Kate Somerville EradiKate? That is one of my favorite spot treatments.
