Style inspiration

I’ll begin this post by admitting a few things.  I honestly, truthfully believe I am the most unfashionable person, ever.  Honestly.  I have never been called fashionable, and not many compliment my outfit choices.  I think this is down to the fact that I prefer being comfortable rather than stylish… Not that I don’t want to look stylish, because I do!!  I’d love people to look at my clothes and think, wow, she looks great, but I can’t help but throw on comfortable clothes day in, day out.  I don’t think that I need a personal shopper or anything, because I know what my ideal style/look would be, I just don’t think I have the guts/charisma to pull it off.

Anyway, this summer I’ve definitely had a life epiphany – on how I want to live, how I want to dress, how I want people to perceive me and how I want to look.  Therefore, I’ve decided that in the winter holiday, I am literally going to sell my whole wardrobe (bar the things I love and I know that I will wear again).  I have a billion gothic/grunge t-shirts from my goth days which need a new home and I can’t wait to revamp my wardrobe and life! Haha!  I’m going to be more brave with my looks and be confident and charming and dainty.  I want my look to be simplistic, elegant, womanly and just more attractive than the typical leggings and baggy tee’s I wear to uni.

Whilst browsing lookbook the other day, I stumbled upon a girl who has just stunned me with the style and look that I crave and admire, her name is Victoria Tornegren.  I want to wear my clothes with the grace and beauty that she does.  I think she pieces together amazing clean, simple staple items of clothing so well that it looks effortlessly cool.  In other words – I want to dress like her!  After stalking her page I stumbled upon her fashion blog, and although I can’t read it (she is Swedish and I’m gutted I can’t translate it!) I can’t help but drool at her fashion choices!

Her clothes don’t look too uncomfortable, right? (apart from the heels – I’d feel like a twat going to uni in heels but they really do make each outfit look glamorous, mature and complete), so surely I could pull some of these looks off.  I’m definitely going to try and recreate some of these looks and hope that I don’t look ridiculous and maybe I’ll post my versions when I’m confident.  She has already inspired me to try a centre parting with two plaits either side which I really love the look of (although I got bullied silly at home by my sister, her boyf and my mum!).

I really adore her black peep toe strappy wedges – I am in love with them and I will definitely be purchasing a pair with my new wardrobe fund this Christmas!  By the looks of it, I’ll also need to get a fitted black blazer, some white shirts and some simple vest tops and shirts, but for now I’ll try and use what I already have in my wardrobe.  You can find her fashion blog here – http://nyheter24.se/modette/victoriatornegren/

On the same fashion blog I also found My Blomquist, who is also stunning and cute and has enviable clothes. I decided that I also love her style and she definitely deserves a spot on this post.

I have just found her lookbook and discovered she is 16! SIXTEEN! Hell, at 16 I was sporting fishnet tops and tartan skirts!  I honestly thought she was in her 20s like me! Wowza. Well, this girl knows how to dress and also does the cutest smoky eyes as you can see in her pictures.

I love her gothic, grunge look, but also love how she mixes crochet, silk and leather, and gets away with all kinds of textures in her outfits.  She is just adorable!  You can find her fashion blog here http://nyheter24.se/modette/myblomquist

SO there you go! Two blonde Swedish girls that I’ve fallen in love with!

What do you think of their styles? Is your style similar?

Any tips for looking glam and feeling confident in your clothes?

Wow, both those girls are gorgeous!! I am so jealous by their wardrobe/hair/figures! Lol.
They really are stylish and I really can't believe the second girl is 16!!!
I think as long as you have the confidence, you can pull pretty much anything off. As long as you get the simple, staple pieces, you're good to go.
I'm slowly getting there. Haha xx

I know! I love everything about them!
I definitley agree with confidence – If your confident and smiling then no one can say you look silly. I need to invest in some staple pieces, I hope I'll get there soon too!! X

I may start stalking them too, to get ideas. LOL!
Yeah I mean, look at Gwen Stefani – she looks amazing in everything she wears.
I'm sure you will 🙂 (though I don't think anything is wrong with your style…from what I've seen. Lol) xx

This may sound daft- but stepping out of your box will make all the difference. Thats is what I do- the majority of the time I wear the same old stuff, and for nights out I always always wear dresses- the thought of wearing trousers paniced me cause I never thought it would be dressy enough. So what did I do- went out and bought a pair of tapered leg trousers from toppers and I wore them proud 🙂 and to me that was an achievement.

Does that actually make any sense?? haha xxxx
just dont sell everything in one go, it might get a bit over whelming for you x

Aww Katie, you can totally get away with wearing all of these looks you're coveting.

I remember a few years ago I used to think I couldn't wear a lot of things, just because people wouldn't EXPECT me to wear them. I had to remain within the niche I had (unintentionally) made myself just so that everyone else wouldn't comment on my outfits.

I never made a conscious decision to just wear whatever I felt like but at some point it happened. My friends might still take the piss out of me for some element of an outfit but I genuinely don't care as I feel happy in what I wear. Most of them don't have the best style anyway!

I guess what I'm saying is don't get hung up on what's 'you' or on worrying about people noticing a change in your style. Nobody else is half as observant as you imagine they are and they will quickly accept your new look and start to covet it themselves, probably! You're a gorgeous girl and this is the time to experiment so have fun – I know you'll look amazing!

You are a beaut, I bet you pull off the centre parting with braids look really well!
I'm also a big lover of Victoria's style alongside another blogger –> ' Angelica Blick'. If you've not discovered her yet i think you'll like her posts too.

I think the reason Victoria's look works is because it's minimal and she sticks to a neutral palette, i love her because she doesn't follow trends but know what works for her.
