Adding Colour to My Wardrobe!

For the first time in my ENTIRE life, I’ve been enjoying adding more colour into my wardrobe.

This is a really new thing for me; the girl who has always felt most comfortable wearing monochrome, and so I’ve really been embracing it.   This whole discovery actually came about because of a job I did with a brand that I love and so I wanted to talk about it over here.

Fiat got in touch and asked if I wanted to create a spring/summer lookbook with them, with each outfit inspired by the shades available for the Fiat 500.   Fiat was actually the brand of my first ever car when I was 17 (I had a little cinquecento whom I named Marigold, she was a beaut!) and so I jumped at the chance at working with them and accepted the colour of creating colourful outfits.

I’ve linked the main video below – I’m super proud of it and a lot of love went into planning, filming and editing it (with the incredibly Kyle Galvin) so I really hope you enjoy it (do let me know what you think)!

WHITE

This is possibly my favourite outfit from the lookbook.  I can’t express how sophisticated, sexy and confident I feel whilst wearing these clothes!  (I think you can tell from the video that I feel this way, which is bizarre because I would never have chosen out these pieces if it wasn’t for the brief).

The sheer lace top from Topshop has become one of my favourite items in my wardrobe and I’ve also just purchased the ASOS trousers in black (whoops) because I love the style and shape of them so much!

YELLOW

This outfit was inspired by an image I found on Pinterest and I’m really happy I managed to re-create the look with my own personal touch.  The shorts are from River Island and will see me through the whole of this summer period and I love the sheer, yellow shirt for adding a splash of colour to any outfit!

Also – the jewellery (again, something I’ve never really worn before, I bought a pack of stackable gold rings from Asos & Boohoo and loved adding these to spruce up the look.

BLUE

As soon as I saw this dress in the Missguided store in Westfield Stratford I knew it was love!  It has everything I adore in a summer dress – off the shoulder, floaty fabric, ruffles and stripes!

Also – I don’t actually think I’ve ever owned a blue bag (or any bag that isn’t black for that matter) but I am obsessed with this one from Topshop.  It’s the most soft material and a perfect size for the essentials.

RED

This was the outfit I found most difficult to put together as I wasn’t sure to just dress black and add a splash of coral/red in the lipstick colour and shoes perhaps, but whilst browsing Topshop I was instantly drawn to the colour of this beautiful dress.  I decided to style it more as a long cardigan with a little black mini dress underneath, and added a casual vibe with some strappy sandals and a floppy hat, both from Boohoo.

This has been one of my favourite brand jobs to date and so I really hope you enjoy the video and images as much as I enjoyed creating the content with Kyle!

You can see more of Kyle’s work on his website and Instagram here.

Do you have any tips on adding colour to your wardrobe?

The first outfit is my favourite too! It's so chic and empowering. I've recently been getting out of the monochrome phase, it can be a bit daunting at first but i've found it really opens my creativity with fashion and its really quite fun to wear a load of colour haha
