MY CURRENT FAVOURITE MAKEUP REMOVERS

Over the past nine months I have had so many questions about the products I’ve been using and found to work best whilst on Roaccutane.  I have spent quite some time recently compiling a BIG round up of my favourites, from foundations, moisturizers, lip balms and more and they’ll be coming up over the next couple of weeks.

Today though, we’re starting with the best products I’ve found to cleanse, tone and remove makeup from my skin.

CLEANSERS

La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Derma Soothing Hydrating Cleansing Cream
This product (along with the rest of the Effalcar H range) was created to be specifically for those who are on suffer with acne are on harsh, over-drying skin treatments.  I hadn’t tried it previously to Roaccutane but it has become my go-to cleanser and I will definitely repurchase. It’s a very simple white cream with no scent, which along with a flannel & hot water, really helps to leave my skin feeling clean, but not stripped (being perfect for both morning and evening).  I feel like it’s definitely contributed to my lack of blemishes as it’s so simple and I absolutely love it for that reason.

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
I’ve also ADORED this cleansing oil to remove my eye makeup particularly.  The skin around my eyes became quite fragile and dry whilst on Roaccutane and so I felt this really helped to keep soft and supple along with being incredible at removing every last trace of heavy makeup.  Again, I pick up a small amount of this with my fingers, massage into my skin and on my eyes and remove with a nice hot flannel.  It’s become my favourite (and most satisfying) part of my skincare regime.

Lush Ultrabland Facial Cleanser

This is a beautiful thick, creamy cleansing balm which I prefer to use at night time.  It contains almond oil, beeswax and honey (so you get an idea of how thick and rich it is).  Massaged into the skin and removed with a damp flannel leaves my skin feeling clear, free of makeup and really plump.  I did get a few new spots after the first few times I used this but I think that’s because it is quite rich and heavy!

Pixi Double Cleanse
I was super excited when Caroline Hirons (skincare queen) announced she was launching this cleansing product with Pixi.  It contains a two-step double cleanse – an solid oil and a cleansing cream and both work wonderfully so remove makeup and clean the skin.  Adore this!

MAKEUP REMOVERS

Avene Micellar Lotion
By far one of my favourite micellar waters I’ve tried.  I’ve been experimenting with quite a few new mascaras recently and this is the only one which removes every last trace with minimal effort.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
Another go-to that I’ve found to be very gentle on sensitive skin and it’s also super affordable and comes in a variety of different sizes.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye and Lip Makeup Remover

When the skin around my eyes became quite sensitive on Roaccutane I found this to remove makeup without irritating my skin.  It’s an oil based makeup remover (you shake to mix it) and it’s just a joy to use.  Would repurchase!

TONERS



Kiehls Cactus Flower and Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Mist
I used quite a few different skin mists whilst on Roaccutane, especially in the summer months, and one of my favourites was this.  Although I haven’t noticed massive changes in my skin because of using this product, I still really like spritzing it on my face after I’ve cleansed and before I’ve moisturised.  My skin feels refreshed and revitalised!  I can also recommend the Avene Eau Thermal Mist and the Vichy Thermal Spa Water (both a little more affordable than this)!

TOOLS
If you’re on Roaccutane, you’ll know sometimes the dry, flaky skin can be unbearable (and embarrassing).  I honestly don’t know how I would have coped with this if it weren’t for the three following tools!

Vanity Planet Ultimate Skin Spa System

This has been by my sink for the entire time I was on medication and still is now.  It’s a cleansing brush with three different head attachments – my personal fav is the silicone head as it’s gentle but does the job of removing flaky skin brilliantly.  Whilst I have my cleansing oil or cream on my skin, I used this to massage the dry skin and moisturised straight after for a super soft, plump, flake-free face.

Foreo Luna Play
Another great facial exfoliator but perfect for travelling because of it’s size!  I’ve found this great for daily cleansing when I’m on the go.

Flannels!
Using flannels to remove my makeup with cleansing oil is one of my favourite parts of my skincare regime.  They’ve been also fab for removing dead skin, especially in hard to reach places around the nose, and they’re cheap as chips!
