2015 FAVOURITES: Skin Care!

I’m starting this year’s beauty favourites round ups with skin care!

Truth be told, 2015 was a really up & down year for my skin – it was all over the place!  I ended up trying 3 different antibiotics to try and calm down my acne with mixed results and I really had to strip back my skincare regime in order to try and minimise breakouts.  The following selection of products I found didn’t irritate my acne and became really great staples I’d recommend to people with similar skin to mine!

Proactive Skin Smoothing Exfoliator

I’d never used Proactive before 2015, but I’d heard lots about it and wanted to give it a try.  The Skin Smoothing Exfoliator has become my favourite cleanser to wash my face in the morning and evening.  It contains tiny little exfoliating beads which makes my skin feel really clean, as well as glycolic and salicylic acid which are both fab for treating acne.  My skin never feels tight when I use this which is a big deal as well!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I’ve tried an awful lot of micellar waters in my time and this is definitely one of my favourites.  It removes the heaviest of makeup with ease (even better than Bioderma does in my opinion).  I love this little bottle which I have next to my bed and I also had a massive bottle of this in the bathroom – can’t get enough!

Tebiskin Moisturiser

I was given this moisturiser to use after a bout of acne treatment called Isolax at Harley Street in the summer months.  It’s a no fuss moisturizer that is anti-inflammatory, making it perfect for blemished skin.

Kiehls Midnight Recovery
This is no surprise as I’m pretty sure I’ve included this in my past couple of yearly favourites!  I just can’t fault this facial oil – it leaves my face feeling soft, moisturized and my skin always looks great the day after using it.

Natrasan First Aid Spray

You might be thinking this is an odd thing to include, but I honestly adore this product.  It’s a multitasking spray which can be used SO many way for different skin issues.  I’ve mainly been using this to help calm down my acne by spraying a few pumps onto a cotton pad and sweeping over my skin after cleansing in the evening.  It kills 99.9999% of bacteria and contains pure hypochlorous acid and can also be used as a mouthwash, a general hand sanitiser, to clean burns, cuts and bites.  Amazing product!

Hope you’ve enjoyed this blog post – if you would like full reviews on any of these products let me know in the comments and I’ll add it to my list of things to review!

Tomorrow’s will be focusing on my Top 5 Foundation & Concealer products of 2015!

What were your favourite skincare products of 2015?

I'd recommend discontinuing use of Proactiv as it contains microbeads – micro plastic! – which is neither good for your skin not the environment!

Yup – very aware of this (why I stopped using st ives scrubs). I'm pretty sure the ones in this completely disintergrate when mixed with water as they don't seem to disappear after rubbing in for a while! xx

I use Garnier micellar water as well and I'm almost out of the giant bottle. So, I was thinking about various products that are similar to that one on the market, but I actually think I'll rebuy, because I like it so much. I haven't tried any of the others you've mentioned, but we have a completely different skin type, so I may not need those products 🙂 Thanks for sharing xx

That first aid spray sounds so handy! Also, I loved the garnier micellar water and actually found that I love the Simple brand's version even more!

I've been eyeing up the Garnier Micellar Water. Currently using Simple's micellar water so might give Garnier's a go when that's done.

If you like oils in your skincare like Kiehl's complex, I've found that argan and rosehip oils are really good for the face as well. x

Lovely choices Katie! While I don't suffer with acne my skin can get quite oily and a rubbish base for my foundation, so the proactiv scrub looks like it's made its way onto my wish list! Glad the microbeads are environmentally friendly too! xx

Nice selection! One of my favorites this year was the Clinique Brightening Moisture Mask.

I've wanted to try Proactiv for so long, I think I'll definitely give it a try! I've never even thought of using First Aid Spray either, could be useful if I have a super bad breakout.
    Thank you for posting ^_^

I discovered the Garnier micellar water this year and have found it so handy for those nights when I'm feeling lazy. My skin has been so up and down recently and I'm so tempted to try the NatraSan spray, I've never heard of anything like it but it sounds brilliant and hopefully not too harsh 🙂

Elements such as exercise, proper sleep and good diet all play a major part in anti aging skin care. Exercise boosts your circulation and delivers a healthy dose of oxygen to your skin. You need your sleep to rejuvenate your body, including your skin. The age-old statement "You are what you eat" describes your daily diet perfectly – well-balanced eating will show on your skin. rejuvenation skin treatment
