PERSONAL: Things that make me happy!

Following on from the really depressing last post of mine, I wanted to write a little list of things that really make me happy when I am feeling down.  These things might sound so silly but they really perk me up (I’m a weird one).

– Books.  I can’t express how much I adore stories, and books are real escapism for me.  I constantly have a book on the go and the thought of getting into bed with one really cheers me up.

I have the following Morrissey quote tattooed on my back (pictured above) “There’s more to life than books you know, but not much more”, which sums me up perfectly and I sometimes believe it’s true.

– A drop or two of sherry. I hope I don’t sound like an alcoholic but whenever I feel really down, the thought of having a thimble of sherry with a book and lit candle excites me (I told you I was odd).

– This blog.  Although I put myself under way too much pressure to make great content that appeals to everyone, and find it hard to make time for,  I really treasure this little blog, and the thought of playing with makeup, putting my photography skillz to use and writing is very dear to me.

– Cuddles with the boy.  I have no idea how I managed to get this boy and I’m honestly shocked he hasn’t left already, with my worrying and crying, but I love time with him, it’s so precious and he is really the only one who knows how to cheer me up and make me laugh when I’m having a down moment.
Time & hugs with my family also cheer me up big time.

– The thought of moving out and getting our very own place.  SO excited for this chapter of my life, I’ve been dreaming about it for so long now.  I can’t wait to decorate my own home and have a space I can love and adore.

– Flowers.  I will never ever get bored of receiving flowers. They brighten up the room and me!  The feeling I get having some in my room make me ridiculously happy.

I think that’s it for now.  The little things that make me happy.

What little things make you happy?

I have to agree with books, they're my main form of escapism

My blog makes me smile, too, especially when people enjoy it.

Here's a picture of some flowers to make you smile: http://instagram.com/p/sHu0Vis0iP/?modal=true

This has been such a lovely post. Hope you feel better and I'm really glad that you've got little ways to make yourself feel a little better. Books are one of my ways to keep busy too! and obviously blogging!

What I do to get happy when I am feeling sad is reading self-help books. Sometimes, I also watch funny movies and listen to calm music. The most effective way for me is definitely reading books.

Books. Definitely, without a doubt. They can turn any frown upside down as far as I'm concerned. The world would be a far better place if everyone took the time to read.

Except for the sherry (I'm a whisky gal – I also love that it always makes me feel super cosy because I imagine drinking it in some shack in the wilds of Scotland snuggled in sheepskin rugs (see, you are not the only odd one!)), this could be my list. Any time it all gets too much at the moment, which is frequently with some huge important changes going on, I just imagine that soon we will have our very own house, and it calms me down and helps me to carry on. My boy is also really great at calming me, and although I worry it drives him away, he told me recently that he loves that he is the only one that I will show my really vulnerable side to – it makes him feel like the most important person in my world. He is of course! Take care of yourself, and keep writing great posts – I love them all! x

Everybody needs little things to make them happy! I agree with books. I don't have as much time to read anymore because I feel like college takes up my entire life, but if I'm having a really crap day I'll search the internet for a free book to read or binge watch YouTube videos. Tea and chocolate also make me happy. Even when it's 90 degrees (F) outside I love a good cup of tea.
Love the quote and your tattoo is lovely πŸ™‚

This is such a great post to realize that even though we are feeling down, there are also good things that has happened in our lives. The sky won't be raining forever, the sun will eventually come out πŸ™‚

I also love writing and reading some great novels. When I read, I am lost in a whole new world, and I just can't be bothered by anyone lol

Personally I love my personal calm space… Being able to come home… Relax under my microsoft blanket, cuddle with my gigantic teddy bear and watch Netflix. Last but not least and most importantly… The time I spend with my family, nothing compares to the happiness I get from that.
