Clinique Super Primer: Colour Correct Review!

Primers are always something I have a love/hate relationship with; to me, if they don’t have an added benefit other than ‘helps your makeup stay on longer’ it just seems like an extra, unnecessary step to add to my daily makeup routine.  When I heard that Clinique were bringing out specific face primers for specific skin concerns, I became intrigued… read on to hear my thoughts!

My main skincare concern (which I’ve spoken about a lot on my blog over the years) is of course my acne-prone skin.  I’ve suffered with it since the age of 18 and it’s finally calmed down a bit this year (with the help of GP described medication).  I still get the occasional blemish (my skin is not yet perfect) and when I do they tend to linger and scar, leaving me with a very unattractive dark red marks.  The only way I’ve found to cover these are to layer on the foundation and apply concealer on top, finally adding a coat of powder to set, although by lunchtime they are always visible again.

One of Clinique’s Super Primer is the Colour Corrects Face Primer; a yellow/orange toned cream which helps colour correct discolorations and blemish marks, leaving you with a silky soft, even base to apply the rest of your makeup.   In a sentence, I’m pretty smitten with this primer.   I can’t tell you how (I’m not scientific enough) but this really does leave my skin looking even with even greater results after applying foundation.  I’m not saying it will fade blemishes, but it definitely makes them less visible after applying foundation and for that, it’s become a staple in my daily face routine!

The NEW Clinique Superprimer Face Primers are available in one universal formula and five tinted formulas designed for specific skin care needs. 30ml RRP £20.00 / €27.00

Shop now at www.clinique.co.uk or visit a Clinique counter to discover your skin type.  Ask for a foundation fitting and you will receive a complimentary 5-day sample of your chosen formula.

I suffer from acne and I know how bad it can make you feel when you break out in a lot of spots all the time and nothing helps. Putting heavy make up on top can often make you look cakey so its a good idea if there is a primer that can correct the discolouration.

I am running a giveaway on my blog be sure to check it out.

Exactly! The last thing you want when having acne is to layer on the makeup but this definitely helps in terms of coverage and evening out! x

My skin is just one big mess at the moment! I've had various bits from the doctors; it goes but then always makes a come back. My face isn't even the worst either, I suffer really bad with spots and scarring on my back!

it's funny how sometimes we have to find another way to cover the red of the acne.. I used to try with a green concelar, but once I used my foundation on top it would appear a bit again.. I found that a pre-foundation green with my foundation or a bb cream with a normal concealer on top works better!
I think when it comes with acne something as a primer works way better than the usually steps!

Great review – I tried the pink one to correct dullness and the yellow to correct redness (review here: https://pascalemakeup.squarespace.com/blog/2013/9/11/clinique-colour-correcting-superprimers) I thought they were good – a teeny bit drying with a very matt feel to them, but definitely make a difference.

    Hi Katie
Please can you tell me if it contains Mica or Bismuth Oxychloride in the ingredients? I am looking to buy online and cannot find an ingredients list. Mica and Bismuth Oxychloride break me out like no ones business.
I would be really grateful of your help if you still have packaging with ingredients on and thanks for the review – really helpful!

    Hi Katie,

Just came across this post as I was um-ing and ah-ing about buying this product, specifically the one you mention. Upon reading your post your skin problems sound verrrrrry similar to mine! So I'm super tempted to get this now – do you mind me asking what foundation(s) and concealer combos you have found work well with this primer? I have had problems before with primers where they just don't work well will certain foundations and I end up back at square one! Would be awesome to hear what products you are using! x

The biggest problem of my life is only the dark spots on my face. I do want to get rid of it any how. I have tried many products. Some where they were effective but none of them was upto my expectations . After i started using clinique products i kept on using them and will be doing till some one will not offer better than them. (My very own reviews.)

When it comes to choosing a makeup product, I would say that Clinique is the best. It makes my face soft and acne is a problem now days due to pollution also. In this Clinique is the brand that can be trusted on
