NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Review!

I have been trying to get my hands on this for AGES but I couldn’t find anywhere that had the palest shade, Siberia, in stock; that was until recently.  I’ve been wearing this foundation pretty much daily since getting my mitts on it so now I can give my honest thoughts on this much raved-about foundation!

NARS SHEER GLOW FOUNDATION REVIEEWNARS SHEER GLOW BRFORE AND AFTER
NARS SHEER GLOW 2

Colour: The shade Siberia is the lightest available and is pretty much perfect for my ghostly pale skin.  I wasn’t expecting it to match so well; it leaves my skin looking natural, but still leaving me looking glowing rather than a grey-white shade.

Formula/Texture: I’m sure you can see from the images above just how wonderful this foundation is; it covers imperfections perfectly leaving my skintone looking natural, yet even and flawless.  The texture is a creamy thick liquid which dries to a nice powder once applied, leaving my skin dewy without being overly greasy looking.  I find that it can be a little heavy for hot summer days and my skin does get super oily around mid-day (after applying  at 7am in the morning) but a little bit of powder helps this.  I do also find that I need to re-apply concealer on problem areas after a while but this isn’t a massive problem as I carry one around anyway.

Price: This retails for £29.50 for 30ml and I’m hoping it’ll last me a while as a little goes a long way.

SPF: This doesn’t contain an SPF which is disappointing but I wear sunscreen daily anyway.

What I Think:  I really like this foundation, a lot.  I wouldn’t say it is a ‘sheer’ foundation at all, I think of it as being more of a satin-matte foundation with buildable coverage.  This is a pricey product and it took me a very long time to decide whether I wanted to invest in this, but I’m very glad I did.

I also have the Sheer-Matte foundation which I will be reviewing and comparing shortly!

Have you tried Nars Sheer Glow?  What are your thoughts?

I was eyeing this one up when I was IMATS this year but as it was sooo busy there was no way I could get colour matched there. I'd heard it wasn't as sheer as the name suggested but that don't bother me, I just add a little moisturiser to it if I need to. That is a really good colour match for you Katie thanks for the review. xx

It looks fabulous on your skin! I was thinking of giving this a go, although I'm torn between Sheer Glow and Sheer Matte. I'm glad they do such a light shade though, I find it difficult finding foundations with a shade light enough for my pale skin.

  7. August 15, 2013 / 9:20 pm

I bought this a whole ago (same shade I think) and it absolutely loved the way it looked on my skin! It literally looked flawless. But I have to get rid of it because it messed my skin up and I started to get red blemishes because of it 🙁 so dissappointed because it's such a lovely foundation!

This doesn't look that sheer but I still really like the coverage it gives, makes your skin look gorgeous. Shame it has no SPF in, you would think it would for that price!

I know this is a very popular foundation but I was always put off by the 'sheer' bit, but the coverage looks amazing in your pics so I really want to try it now! x

That looks so beautiful on you! You must have picked out the perfect shade as well. The name is pretty deceiving…but I'm glad it's not as "sheer" as the name claims. Love it! If only it were a bit cheaper

  15. August 16, 2013 / 6:02 am

It is something I've always wanted to try but the 'sheer' part in the title pushed me away at that price point. I don't want too sheer! But, it looks like it covers imperfections really well! I might have to try it out!

This foundation is a favourite of mine, the only foundation I've ever used that actually matches my skin perfectly – I'm in the shade siberia too x

  21. August 16, 2013 / 10:03 am

It's actually great that it has no SPF as foundations SPFs only give you false impression that you are protected. You would need to use at least 0,5ml at once to achieve the protection that would last a few hours only.

  22. August 16, 2013 / 11:13 am

I've wanted to try this for ages! Did you find it hard to buff into the skin to get the desired finish? xo

  23. August 16, 2013 / 11:43 am

I went in to get a tester of one the other week but they didn't have my colour because like you i am also very pale! I have heard really good things and when my current foundation runs out this might be my next one 🙂

I have this, i went on the biggest mission to get it and ended up ordering it online and I've hardly used it as I hate the feeling of it on my face! I also find it's very yellow-toned so makes me look a bit ill 🙁 looks lovely on you though! x

Ever since I saw Tanya Burr using this regularly I knew I wanted to have this but I have actually never seen a proper review on it (or searched for one, I admit) but you made me pretty sure I want one, that is more sure than I was anyways. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hand on one that matches me 🙂

    Hi Katie,

It's funny cause yesterday, I was hesitating between the NARS Sheer Glow and the ARMANI Luminous Silk.
I couldn't decide and as it's a bit pricy, I wanted to try it before.
I heard very good reviews about these 2.

But your post makes me want the NARS one now!

I'm naturally quite pale myself – I'm currently using either Laura Merciers tinted moisturiser in Porcelain (which has an spf so it's handy for summer)or Chanels Vitalumiere Aqua as the coverage is pretty sheer, but buildable if you feel a little more!

I might have to give this one a go as the coverage looks quite natural.

I tried the foundation at Selfridges a couple of months ago. I like my foundation sheer and glowy so it sounded like my thing. But like you said, the coverage is not sheer and the foundation is rather mat. So for me it was a no go. Looks good on you though. But for me it did not have the expected outcome. So in the end I did not buy it and went for MAC Mineralize foundation.

  57. January 10, 2015 / 10:51 pm

I bought this off amazon but have to send it back because its too dark. I will just purchase foundation in store until i know my shade.

  58. January 14, 2015 / 8:01 pm

i have the exact same problem, i always have to touch up my concealer halfway through my day. Although depending on where i am thats not a problem, but i wish it was a little more longwearing than it is.

I definitely need to try this foundation out! Great review by the way 🙂 x

Spotted skin, scars and acne marks make you feel embarrassed and hurt self-esteem as well. Many of us opt for cosmetics and other products to get rid of acne residues. There are many home remedies which have proven their effects on lightening these skin marks. Tomato and Lemon Juice: Take a “fresh tomato” and make its paste. Mix it well with one tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply the paste on face for around 20 minutes and rinse it off gently with water after 20 minutes. Pulp of Aloe Vera: Let the pulp from Aloe Vera dry for 5 minutes in sun. Add 6-8 drops of lemon juice to it and apply on the affected area and face for 15 minutes. Onions: Cut the onion into small pieces. Grind those pieces and separate the juice from the residue. Apply the juice for few minutes on the affected skin and rinse after 10 minutes. Cucumber and Milk: Make a paste out of cucumber, milk and a bit of lime extract. It will serve as a face mask. Apply thoroughly and wash it with warm water after 10 minutes. You must consider a visit to dermatologist in severity of the condition. But, these home remedies are proven effective in getting rid of acne marks, black spots, pimples and dark spots.
