Ghost Hunting…

This will be a slightly different post – it’s not about beauty or makeup, but about what I’ve been up to and the work that I’ve recently been creating!

Those of you who follow my Twitter will know that for my Final Major Project (in my BA Photography Degree at LCC), I’ve been ghost hunting!  I’ve always been fascinated with the supernatural and ghosts, haunted houses, séances etc and so to spend a whole year ghost hunting for a project has been very exciting for me.

For the first part of my ghost hunting adventure I travelled to England’s ‘Most Haunted Village’, Pluckley in Kent, and I visited the sites of where the village’s 12 ghosts have been seen.  I photographed the ‘haunted landscapes’ on a digital, film and disposable camera, hoping for some proof of the afterlife or some spectral beings to appear in my images!  I’ll show you a few photographs that I took there –

In the photograph below I definitely think I have photographed some sort of paranormal activity.  Can any of you see the ghost(s)???

Many people can see the faint outline of a man with his back to the camera, behind the bridge (supposedly haunted by the watercress lady).  I can also see another outline next to him, maybe his partner?  WHO ELSE CAN SEE HIM?

I also got another picture of a scary face at the same bridge –

And an aura that I captured on my digital camera in a haunted pub, The Dering Arms –

(Please note that NONE of the photographs above have been edited in any way, shape or form other than the red circles/arrows pointing to the ghosts, and the accidental over contrast of the first image– I have not faked any of them!)

Recently, for the same project I’ve been experimenting with performing to the camera (I love doing self portraits as I don’t need to rely on anyone but myself and I can get exactly what I want out of each picture).  I’ve been trying to play around with paranormal activities, such as levitating, which you can see a preview of below –

LEVITATION1

There we have it – a sneak peak of some of the work I’ve been busy creating!  The project is not finished just yet and I only have a month and two weeks left to shoot everything, so I hope you can forgive me for not posting as much latelyI will definitely be posting more often after my degree finishes in June!

A lot of you are probably now thinking – OHMGZ SHE CRAZAAY.  I’m not, well, okay, I am probably just a little mental, trying to prove the existence of ghosts.  I do believe in the paranormal, although I can’t say that I’ve yet seen an actual ghost yet, so I’m becoming less scared of the unknown, which is good.  But hopefully in the next few weeks of shooting I’ll capture something scary on camera!  Please wish me luck finding some ghouls!!!

Have you ever seen a ghost or experienced something paranormal?  Can you see the ghosts in my images?  Got any scary stories?

Oh gosh, this post was so scary – you see, it's night and I'm all alone in my apartment, haha.
But I also find the post super interesting as I've always been interested in the supernatural, UFOs and all that kind of things, too! I also think it's awesome that you attend a university of arts because I like many kinds of art forms!

And I could definitely see something in the picture where you said there was a man and possibly another person too. Whether or not it's a ghost, that I don't know though! 🙂

P.S. In your book post you recommended us Dexter, and now you've got me hooked on that TV series! Thanks a lot for the recommendation. I've only watched the first season so far, but I'm definitely planning on getting all the other seasons too. 🙂
    xoxo Nora

I have never seen any ghosts but I believe in them and I don't think I'd be brave enough to go searching for evidence. Some of those photos are very spooky and a shiver run down my spine when I saw those faint outlines.

so creepy! i used to think our house was haunted when i was little because its sooo creaky and old but i think i was probably just being paranoid!

yes, I do believe I've seen things and felt things, but mostly passed family with only one 'night terror'

the levitating photo is simply beautiful though x

sometimes light reflects off the lens to create the aura like the one at the window 🙂 or if you're using a filter, that can cause it too.
I go to abandoned buildings & take pictures, last summer I revisted Hellingly Asylum. Everything was fine until my friend & I reached what we believe was a female ward. I started shaking uncontrollably, then crying for no apparent reason & my friend became violently ill. After, going through my pictures I'd taken I spotted this one – (http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/47696_429656908418_28818423418_4777278_7138417_n.jpg)apparently taken when I'd been crying. My camera had been off.
Another time had been at an abandoned school in Kent, it was a boiling hot summers day, but my hands were icy & my breath in clouds. My knee collapsed below me (the start of a severe problem with my legs) before I went up the stairs, where I physically couldn't move. it sounds so silly now but for some reason my body was frozen in fear. I have a friend who was a pupil at the school & this suprised her, that the building gave me such a horrid feeling. Okay probably too much waffling on, sorry!

Wow that's so cool! I find things like this so interesting and yes I can definitely see the outline of a man in that picture!xx

Shell – You can go hunting anytime and anywhere!! There are loads of websites telling you haunted places, see if there are any near you and then go have a look around! So glad you can see the faces 😀 XX

Sammiebbz – Ahh thank you!! I wasn't scared at all, until we got to the bridge (where I took those two odd pictures). It was pitch black when I took the picture with the face in, there were no street lights and I stepped out of the car and I automatically felt really weird – it was an odd sensation and my Mum felt it too, we both felt mellow, sombre yet scared. Odd! Your fake tan bottle was floating? Thats actually crazy!!!XXX

Nora – Hahaha oh I'm so sorry if I scared you!! I'm fascinated with UFOs too – maybe I should hunt for them also? Haha! And Im SOO glad you like Dexter! The TV show is probably my favourite programme, its just incredible. And the series just get better!! XX

Meeta – I was so scared when I started this project – I had so many sleepless nights, scared, but now I'm not scared at all. I feel really calm when at home alone and its made me less scared!! When I first realized that there was an outline in that picture a shiver ran down my spine too!! XX

Zoe – Ahhh thank you so much, the levitating picture has become my favourite self portrait 🙂 Creaks always freak me out. My mum put a wind chime outside in our garden and whenever it rings I get a bit spooked!! XX

Girl in the city – Haha I'm so sorry! Hope you slept well. My housemate has night terrors and it sounds so scary when she explains them. I'd hate to have one. When I was younger I could have sworn I saw my deceased Grandma but it was probably my imagination! XX

PollyB – I will definitely be taking more, and I'll show you them after my degree show – I don't want to ruin the surpise for everyone else 🙂 XXX

Sofi – The aura is actually just the light from the window but shhhhhh!! It still looks kinda spooky that its around the rocking chair! Ahhh that picture you took is fab – almost looks like coloured smoke, very odd!! What abandoned places do you go to? I'd adore to do that too. Maybe we should set up a ghost hunting/abandoned building group for other bloggers to attend, haa!!
I def think that gut instincts and body feelings matter in those sorts of places – if you feel something bad or weird then you should trust it, those places must have been very scary. XXX

Holly – Glad you can see it – I'm not going crazy! Thank you! XXX

This post scared the sh*t out of me!! I can see alot in every picture. Freaky. I'm very sensitive for paranormal activity. When I was 6 I could feel auras (never been able to see them :s)

I am really into the paranormal as well! Although I wouldn't want to experience anything scary, myself. I also really enjoy watching paranoral shows. I have had a totally wierd thing happen to me, everytime that my mom & I would watch Silvia Brown on the Montel Willams show in the living room, the light on the DVD Player would turn itself on. That was so wierd & kind of freaked us out at fist but we got used to it.
