Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Foundation Review!

I’m here with a review today on a foundation I’ve stumbled upon on my usual ‘Holy Grail Foundation Quest’.  Benefit launched their Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation last year, after 3 years of creating it.  It’s their first liquid foundation product, and boasts an SPF 25 & being oil free.  Read on for what I think!

 BENEFIT HELLO FLAWLESS FOUNDATION REVIEW
BENEFIT HELLO FLAWLESS FOUNDATION REVIEW2

As usual, I’ll review the foundation according to the four categories that I most rate foundations for – Colour, Formula, Price & SPF!

Colour: There are 9 shades available in this foundation which I think is a little disappointing, brands definitely need to start catering for a more varied audience!  I have the shade Ivory, which is the palest shade available and I think it’s pretty obvious from the photographs above that it is too dark for my pale skin.  In daylight the colour difference is noticeable, saying that, I have been wearing it out and about and no one has commented on it (yet!).

Formula/Texture: I really like the formula and consistency of this foundation.  The liquid itself is smooth and creamy and blends really well into the skin with a buffing brush.  On the skin this dries almost as a second skin (if this makes sense!) it does a great job of evening out skin tone, yet looking matte and natural.  I’d say the coverage is from light to medium – you can work more into the problem areas of skin but it doesn’t cover all blemishes as you can see from the pics above, your natural skin will shine through.  If you do have blemish prone skin like me then you will need a concealer to cover any pesky imperfections.  This foundation is oil free so it’s perfect for those whose skin is lighter on their oiler side, like mine, although I do find this tends to slip throughout the day (I always carry a powder around with me anyway).

Price: This foundation retails at £24.50 for 30mls, which I do think is a little pricey but then again I am quite tight, ha!

SPF: Contains SPF25 which it absolutely perfect, meaning it is perfect to wear all year round.

What I think – I really like this foundation, I love how it looks on my skin and how it makes me look dewy, yet matte and not at all oily at the same time.  This would easily be one of my fav foundations if the shade was right for me.
Believe it or not, this is actually the first Benefit product I have actually ever tried properly too!  I’ve popped my Benefit cherry, let me know if there are any other products I need to try out (I think I want a blusher next!).

I've literally just reviewed this on my blog too and absolutely love it as well, its a really good quality product

  2. March 5, 2013 / 9:12 pm

I was tempted to try this too, but I thought it was too dark for me and I was right. It is a shame they don't cater to more skin tones, you'd think a brand like Benefit would realise the need for variety. Especially at £24.50! I always think Benefit are wayyy to overpriced, maybe I'm tight too, haha.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows are to die for! The one I have is called Birthday Suit and it is a taupe/beige shimmer. It is a gorgeous color and does not crease (I guess that's why they call 'em creaseless lol). I highly recommend it!

This looks beautiful on your skin! It isn't too noticeable that it's a tad dark, it makes your skin look quite healthy and glowing!

Definitely tempted to try this too and I'm not to pale skinned so should find a good match if they cater for yellower tones. Great review!! x

I'm really tempted to try this it looks like it's just what I look for in a foundation, though i think I might be paler than you so it probably won't work for me 🙁 xx

It looks amazing on you. I'm a fan of dewy finish and I get something similar with Bourjois Healthy Mix serum. I'm very pale like you and I love Benefit's Coralista. It gives a gorgeous peach flush and has fine gold shimmer that just makes your cheeks look fantastic. It looks more like a highlighter on my much tanner friend, though.

I love benefit, or rather the idea of them, as I can't afford them. As such I have lots of miniatures!! lol I got one of their older top 10 miniature sets on ebay which I thought would be good to test out quite a few of their products to see if any of them are worth saving up for or asking for for xmas (Just had my birthday so xmas is the next time I'll get a chance to ask for any wishlist items) – I've not really used them much, yet, but they're waiting and I'm looking forward to it.

Also I love their creaseless cream eyeshadows, which you can often find reduced on places like fragrance direct, cheapsmells and ebay so they might be worth a try if you find a bargain one =D I have slippin n dippin, flying down to and bunny hop and I love them all

  16. March 5, 2013 / 11:01 pm

I wish they had a lighter shade, I really want to try this!

Love your blog! I've tried a lot of benefit products, and tbh none stand out as great

Although no one wears even close to enough foundation for the spf in it to be effective.

This looks like such a nice foundation, I love Benefit but I've never tried any of their foundations

Amazing review such an honest opinion and I love the way you included before and after photos :). You have such nice skin btw and I do like the after effect of this foundation but just like you mentioned its not a great colour for paler skin tones as I find foundations that are dark give my skin an orange look to it which is not a good look 😛 but would be good if they had paler shades as this sounds amazing xx

I've never heard of this but the packaging alone is a reason I might try this! I'm currently looking for a great liquid foundation after a couple years of only using powder. I might have to try this out!

  23. March 5, 2013 / 11:33 pm

This is my holy grail foundation! I love it so much and luckily I've found the perfect shade for my skin despite there not being so many!
The benefit high beam is amazing, it's been my go to highlighter for years! I also really like their bella bamba blush, both the 'bad gal' and 'they're real' mascaras and the 'that gal' primer is also really good if you like an illuminating base!
The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the hoola bronzer, it is way too dark for my pale skin and makes me look muddy! & everyone loves the porefessional but I feel it makes my face too matte! x

you should try Hervana blush 🙂

  25. March 5, 2013 / 11:41 pm

I've been wanting to try this foundation for a while now, but when the woman on the benefit counter tested it on me, it went patchy by the end of the day. Foundations don't usefully do this for me, has anyone else had a problem with this or could it have been the way the lady applied it?

I bought this yesterday and wore it for the first time today I have the same colour as you and also think it might be a tad to dark. So far I really like it I think it looks really light weight on the skin and does give me the flawless look to start off with without looking caked in make-up. What lipstick are you wearing? I really want to branch out into corals and I have the same skin tone as you. x

This looks great, I love Benefit stuff! Unfortunately I'm really pale too so think it would be too dark for me, as is the case with so many products! Such a shame.

I really like Benefit but theres something about their foundations that just doesnt agree with my skin – i literally start breaking out within a hour of applying it. Shame because this looks lovely on you.

ugh. this one would be too dark for me too 🙁

  35. March 6, 2013 / 7:44 pm

I wanted to love this product so badly but when I went to try it, I suspect the woman who applied it at the makeup counter used too much because it just felt SO heavy on my face. I have dry skin so I thought it would be a perfect fit. After reading all these lovely reviews, I may have to go back and try it again! All of Benefit's products are amazing, particularly They're Real Mascara and the Dandelion Blush!

  36. March 6, 2013 / 8:20 pm

I've been considering this as my next foundation to try out. I really like their concealer but it only comes in 2 shades and I would imagine would be too dark for you. The sugarbomb blush box is a firm favourite as well:)

  37. March 6, 2013 / 9:01 pm

Great post! I've always wanted to try the Hello Flawless foundation and I think I might now! They're Real mascara has always been my favorite Benefit products! 🙂 I also loooove the Hoola bronzer and Coralista blush!

I also have a beauty blog so if you'd like to take a look that would be absolutely fabulous!!!

Definitely go for the Coralista blusher. It's perfect for spring and summer! And at some point a beauty blogger will have to try "They're Real!" mascara, which is absolutely amazing!

I am looking for a good concealer under my eyes, do you have any recommendations? I recently read this article http://www.squidoo.com/the-top-5-best-undereye-dark-circles-concealer, and now i'm curious to what else is out there!

    • March 14, 2013 / 5:48 pm

Benefit do an under eye concealer called Erase Paste that is supposed to be very brightening for dark circles. I haven't tried it out yet but I know they have just brought out a hydrating under eye concealer called Fake-up (which is also meant to be great). It should be available in the UK shortly! Hope that helps! X

For some reason, this product didn't work for me at all. The lady at sephora applied it for me and we both looked at my skin after and agreed that it wasn't the foundation for me. It almost looked spongey on my skin, it was that thick. I have pretty good skin so I don't need this much coverage but still, this didn't work for me whatsoever. I'm glad you have had better luck. It looks great on you. I always find it crazy how a product can be fantastic for one person and look absolutely awful on another.

    Thanks for the review!

If you want a heavier coverage you should use the Hello Flawless powder over the top 🙂

for reaaaly pale shades (like yours & mine) dandelion is a really cute pink blush and if you layer it with poesy tint you really get a pink flush- like you just fell in love-

I want to buy a new foundation…My skin is somewhat between normal to not oily, and sometimes I'll get this dry patches..Currently, I'm using NARS Sheer Glow, it's good actually for me, BUT not looking too good on photos..So, I'm thinking to buy a new foundation and it's between this Benefit and MUFE HD…I used MUFE HD long time ago and it looks good, but doesn't feels good on the skin…Need ur advice, thanks!

Is this shade "Ivory Believe in Me" or "Ivory I'm Pure 4 Sure"? Because I was just checking out another blog – she initially had Believe in Me thinking it was the lightest shade and it was a smidge too dark, then she discovered Pure 4 Sure is actually paler. Maybe this is why yours is slightly off colour?

It did a pretty great job hiding the blemishes on your skin! 😉
