Holiday Outfit of the Day #1

I’ve decided that I want to start doing a few more fashion-y posts on my blog and so on holiday I took an outfit picture every day!  I thought I’d start of with a few of these OOTDs and if you guys like them, then let me know and I’ll do some more now that I’m back in Blighty!

I hope that these posts will be helpful to those that are petite like me as I’m quite good at finding bargains for shorter people (like the amazing kids sections in New Look & H&M).  And hopefully I will be able to throw together a few outfits that look half decent that you guys might like!  Anyway -

Black Playsuit – Asos Petite, Denim Jacket – Zara, Grey Cardigan – Topshop Men, Studded Sandals (below)– New Look Kids. Black Vest top – M&S.

I know this is a terrible first outfit photograph as you can hardly see what I’m wearing underneath my denim jacket, but it is actually this Asos Petite playsuit!  It really is short (so if you buy it then please don’t bend over as you will show off your booty to the world) but it really is perfect for petites and fits lovely.
It was quite windy this day so I threw on a vest underneath the playsuit, one of my Dad’s cardigans (which I have stolen!) and my favourite denim jacket from Zara.

And I thought I should include a few family portraits from that evening.  You can’t beat a good self time function!

What’s your favourite playsuit and would you like more outfit posts?

You may have noticed that it was all a little bit quiet on my blog last week and that’s because I was actually on holiday!  I went to South Italy for a week to celebrate my Dad’s 50th Birthday – but unfortunately due to technical complications, I wasn’t able to post any of the posts that I had drafted!  Anyway…

I thought I’d film a video and write a post on the makeup and skin/hair care products I took along with me.  I’m generally a really nosey person and love seeing what people choose to take away with them so some of you might like this!

The May 2012 Glossy Box is their Birthday Anniversary box!  Glossybox UK have just reached one year old and to celebrate GB have included a few little extras into the May box, including a mirror and balloon so you can celebrate along with them.

Lolita Lempicka  L’Eau De Blanc & Si Lolita – I have been a fan of Lolita Lempicka fragrances for about 6 years now and have a full size of their main perfume, so it was great to see two samples of new fragrances that they have created.  As soon as I smelt Si Lolita, I was in love!  I popped it straight into my makeup bag and took it on holiday with me and it has become my new summer fragrance.  It’s sexy, sensual and just gorgeous - I will definitely, without a doubt, be purchasing a full size of this perfume!  As for the Limited Edition ‘L’Eau De Blanc’ fragrance, it is nice and I will use it up but I prefer the original!

HD Brows Eye Smoothing Serum – I actually already have one of these which I keep on my bedside table to use before I sleep.  It’s a nice, creamy eye serum which sinks in easily into the skin.  The packaging is also nice but I get it confused with my HD Brows Growth Serum and Brow Beater because they are all so similar!

Osmo Berber Oil Hair Treatment – I love hair oils so I was happy to see this in my box.  This particular oil is very light and can be used before and after washing your hair to keep it smooth and soft.

Apivita Anti Wrinkle & Firming Mask with Grape – This doesn’t particularly appeal to me but I might have a pamper session and try it out tonight.  I love grapes so I hope the smell is nice!

Nobel Isle Shower Gel – Apart from the off exception (like Molton Brown or Rituals) I generally don’t like recieving shower gels in boxes as I can’t use them unless their okay for sensitive skin.  I’ll probably pass this on to someone else!

Glossybox Mirror (bonus) – Perfect little compact mirror with the GB logo on it.  Has a normal side and a magnified side so it’s perfect for touch ups through out the day!

What I Think –  HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLOSSYBOX!  It has been great to watch the GB UK company grow and expand over the past year.  I feel super honoured to have been a Glossybox Ambassador and been able to represent the Glossy Boxes on my blog.  I think the company are great and the team are wonderful and it has been a pleasure to be part of it all!

I attended the Glossybox Birthday Party a few weeks ago and below is a photograph of me and other ambassadors in the photo booth!

What do you think of the Birthday Glossybox?

Sleek GLO Face & Body Highlighter Review Swatches!

Sleek Makeup are a great range for bringing out new products.  New i-divine palettes and lip/cheek products are usually released a few times a year which is one reason why I love the brand so much.  New to hit Superdrug stores is their GLO Face and Body Highlighter.  I have the shade Peach Shimmer which I have swatches and reviewed for you below.

sleek glo

The new GLO highlighters are a little similar to The Body Shop Shimmer Waves (but better in my opinion, and that’s saying something because I usually adore TBS products).  In the highlighter there are five shimmery shade stripes which, when blended together, leave you with the most beautiful bronze, peachy and gold highlight.  This particular ‘Peach Shimmer’ palette looks absolutely beautiful on pale skin and is perfect for adding a bit of colour/bronze in the summer.  I also love that you can wear the shades individually as eyeshadows.

The new GLO highlighters are available at Superdrug stores for £6.49 for a whopping 8.2 grams of product which is mega!  There are also two other new shades – ‘Bronze Baby’ and ‘Gold Digga’, which are slightly darker, so Sleek have definitely catered for all skin tones here!

What do you think of these new shimmer palettes?  What is your favourite shimmer bronzer?

MAC ‘Camera Ready’ Event!

When MAC invited me to their BAFTA ‘Camera Ready’ beauty master class I couldn’t contain my excitement.  MAC is one of my favourite makeup brands so I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store for us.  MAC Cosmetics are (for the 9th year running) the Official Beauty Partner of the Arqiva British Academy Television Awards and will be ensuring that all guests arriving on the red carpet look glam and perfect for this years award ceremony.

The event was hosted by Cher Webb, MAC’s Senior Artist (who will be doing a lot of makeup for VIPs for the BAFTAs) and she showed us how to create two camera ready, red carpet looks.  Both of these looks are incredible and actually really easy to do on yourself.

LOOK 1 – What I like to call the Natural ‘me but better’.
Final Look above
LOOK 1 1

1) Cher started off by prepping the skin by massaging Prep + Prime Skin Brightening Serum into the skin, before buffing the Face + Body Foundation (number c2) into the skin with a #191 tapered brush.  On top of the foundation, Cher used Pro Longwear Concealer with the #185 brush under the eyes, around the nose and on any blemishes.

2) Next, Cher applied a Paintpot in Groundwork (which is a stunning pale brown) onto the eyelids and underneath the bottom lash line and blended any harsh lines away with a #217 brush.  She then used Pro Longwear Eye Pencil in Lord It Up and smudged it on the top and bottom lash line and blended it out so that it smudged perfectly with the paintpot.

3) After curling Drew’s lashes, Cher applied layers of MACs False Lash Mascara to the top and bottom lashes.

4) To finish off the eyes, Cher used an Eyebrow Pencil to fill in Drew’s brows.

5) To complete the look, Cher used Cremeblend Blush in Something Special (one of my favs!) to the apples of the cheeks and then layered a little of Pink Rebel Lustre Drops to highlight the cheeks, nose, cupids bow and décolletage.

6) Finally, Pro Longwear Lipcreme in To The Future (a stunning natural peachy shade) was applied to the lips, along with Lip Pencil in Boldly Bare.
LOOK 2 – by adding three or four simple products you can achieve a completely different, stunning look!
Final Look above
 LOOK 22

1) Once everything in Look 1 is completed, use Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in What A Blast! to line your lips, and then finish by applying Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Good To Go with the #228 mini shader brush for perfection.

2) Smudge Eye Kohl Pencil in Feline into the waterlines and smudge underneath the eye and on the eyelid.  Then blend the kohl pencil with the #239 shading brush so there are no harsh lines.  Finally add a pair of falsies to complete the look!  Lashes #3 were used in the look above!

What I think
Both of these looks are absolutely stunning and Cher gave us lots of great tips on how to apply makeup and how to make it last longer on your skin.  The MAC Pro Longwear products are also all fabulous for parties and special occasions because they really do stay on all night and do not budge (a lot of celebs will be using these products for the BAFTAs to ensure their lipstick, eyeshadow and bases do not budge or fade throughout the night).

Since this camera ready master class I have been really experimenting with makeup and can’t wait to show you all what these two looks look like on myself!  Full reviews of a few of the products mentioned will also be making an appearance on my blog soon too.

What are your tips for making makeup last longer on the skin?  Which of these looks would you like to see recreated first?

Top 5 Favourite Nail Polishes for Spring!

Spring to me is all about bright, pastel shades which help ease us into the heat, fun and colour frolics that is summer, so I decided to put together my Top 5 Nail Varnishes for Spring!  These are all perfect for adding a hint of colour to your daily outfits and are sure to get you in the mood for BBQs, sun and picnics over the next few months.

Nails Inc Wellington Square* – The MOST perfect peach nail colour I have ever seen, I adore this shade.  It’s absolutely perfect for adding colour to every day outfits and will look absolutely wonderful against any skin tone.

17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish in Parma Violet – Such a good quality nail polish for an amazingly cheap price.  I love this light pastel purple shade.

Barry M Nail Paint in 295 Turquoise – A nice, vibrant blue shade which looks perfect with two coats.

Bourjois 10 Days Anti Chip Polish in 25 Pastel Coral*– My favourite pink polish of the moment.  This is a pink shade with the smallest hint of orange which I adore.  Very girly and easy to wear.

Orly in Jealous, Much…?* – Also featured in my ‘April Favourites’ post, I have been adoring this nail polish in Spring 2012.  It looks stunning on pale skin and is the most perfect milky green shade.

+ a bonus polish

Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Nomad* – Another green, but this is such a striking shade I couldn’t leave it out!

I also filmed a video explaining why I chose these products and you can also see swatches of what they look like ON my nails also.  All of the nail polishes above look great with only two coats!

Schwarzkopf Got2b 'Play it Straight'

This product has been popping up all over the blog world recently and I can see why; it’s an easy way to get salon straight hair, at home.  I know so many girls who straighten their hair and use a gallon of products every day because of unruly curls and frizz, but with this product you can banish the flyaways and enjoy swishing around your silky straight hair.

got2b - play it straight - Packshot - With New The Play it Straight ‘Straightening Blow Dry Kit’ from got2b works in just two steps – smoothing and sealing, which will give you straight, manageable, tame hair which will last up to 10 washes.

It contains a protein that helps loosen the bonds that make hair frizzy, whilst also giving lots of condition with ingredients like keratin and silk and wheat proteins, to help care for your hair at the same time.
These ingredients also work to create a humidity-resistant barrier to frizz, which is perfect for those living in the weather crazy country that is England, or even perfect before a holiday!

What I like about this product is that you can still wear your hair curly or wavy after using this product – it’ll just mean that the curls won’t be frizzy and shaggy, they’ll the smooth and silky instead.

You can watch a video on how to use this product here so you can see how easy it is to use.

Got2b play it straight is £6.99 RRP and available now from Boots, Superdrug, Asda, Savers and Amazon.  You can also visit the got2b facebook page here to find out more information!

Do you suffer from frizzy hair? Will you be trying this new product for £6.99?

Space NK Event & New Launches!

A few weeks ago I was invited to the Soho branch of Space NK to have a gander at their new collections and releases for this summer.  The store itself is lovely and absolutely covered in so many products on its walls and stands, I could easily have spent hours in there.  I’ve squeezed as many of the new launches in this post here so you can see if anything takes your eye.

By Terry – By Terry is a brand that I’ve adored for a few years now but have never had the chance of owning because I simply couldn’t afford it with my student budget.  However now that I’m living back at home and saving a little, I’m hoping that I can add a few pieces of By Terry’s luxurious and classic pieces to my makeup bag.
As you can see below, the packaging is all beautiful and has star quality and I was able to speak to the creator of the brand, Terry de Gunzberg who showed me a few new additions to the range.
Above you can see the Aqua Lip Tint which is AMAZING.  I’m going to put a full review of this up soon, but it’s basically a long lasting lip tint in the most beautiful pink shade (swatch above too).

Below are two new shades of Ombre Blackstar which are pigmented eye shadow crayons.  One swipe of these beauties on your eye lids will add a flash of colour, and they can be smudged for a more sultry look.  The Blue shade is called Paradise Island, and the green is Fizzy Jade.

HourglassKate and I spent a good ten minutes oohhh-ing and ahhh-ing over the Hourglass stand.  We were shown the Opaque Rogue Liquid Lipsticks which are absolutely incredible; intensely pigmented and available in a gorgeous variety of shades and they last hours on the skin.  I’m drooling over the orange red shade!  We were also shown the new Primer Serum which feels like silk on the skin – a perfect base for foundation.

Liptropolis Lipstick Library by Lipstick Queen – SUCH a good idea, this lipstick library was created by Poppy King (lipstick queen!) and I had a chance to talk to her all about lipsticks which was amazing.  Poppy created the first Liptropolis lipstick library all inspired by the idea of ‘lipstick in the city’ and New York.  The three shades in this box are Soho, Upper East and Central Park.  My favourite is the pale peachy shade, but I could see myself easily wearing all three of these lippies.  After swatching these on my hand (and after Poppy complemented my lipstick swatching skillz) I got to see just how lovely these lippies are – soft, creamy and pigmented!
This box retails at £40 in Space NK and I can’t wait to see more Liptropolis boxes that Poppy creates in the future!

In Peace Eau de Parfum – This perfume was born from an exclusive partnership between Space NK and Women for Women International.  10% of profits from this perfume will go directly to women survivors of war to help rebuild their life.  The perfume itself is quite a unique scent – it’s very light and fresh with hints of iris and freesia and then develops into a sensual musky smell thanks to sandalwood and white musk.  A bottle of this costs £60 and you can read more about the charity here.

Other Launches – Also worth mentioning is Rococo Nail Apparel (below right), who have a summer collection of nail polishes being released.  And finally Beautannia who are releasing their Brighton range.  The packaging of this whole range (below left) is absolutely beautiful (I’m obsessed with all things nautical) but unfortunately the smell of the range is just a bit too strong and musky for me!

What is your favourite brand in Space NK?  Do any of these launches catch your eye?

Makeup Masterclass with 17!

Does anyone remember this post?  My entry for the Boots 17 Blogger Spring Challenge?  Well a few weeks after entering I got an amazing email with the information that I WON!  I was over the moon that 17’s Makeup Brand Ambassador, Vanesa Guallar, had chosen my look as her favourite!

The prize was a ‘makeup master class’ with Vanesa herself for my friends and I.  I invited my girlies from my foundation course at Camberwell to come along to my place where Vanesa would work her magic and transform us all into beauties for the night!

Becky – I’d like to introduce you to my little sister, Becky (although not so little anymore, she is now 21!).  Becky chose to have makeup a la Eva Green and this is the finished piece.  I love the flawless skin, pink lips and smudged ‘come hither’ eyeliner.

Aniela – This is Aniela who had a purple smokey eye to make her green eyes ‘pop’!  Aniela normally wear’s minimal makeup (she doesn’t need it anyway as she is so naturally stunning) but I adore the smokey eyes on her and the false lashes.  The purple eyeshadow used is actually the 17 Starry Eyes Trio in Neptune.

Sophie – This is the gorgeous Sophie who had a brown smokey eye and red lips.  Sophie has never worn red lipstick before but I think she defo should more because it suits her pale complexion amazingly.  This red lipstick is Lady Danger by MAC.

Me – And finally me!  I chose to have something similar to Lana Del Ray – with a defined crease of the eye and a big winged flick.  Vanesa finished off the look by adding false eyelashes and a pinky lipstick by 17.

This was the makeup table by the end of the evening, haha -
ArlWG4OCMAEXPkf.jpg large

GROUP SHOT – This is me and my gals and Vanesa all together!
group shot

I had the loveliest time being pampered by Vanesa – we made a day out of it and ordered a huge pizza, drank lots of frisky bisons and ended up in East London to party the night away.  It ended up raining horrifically, but even though our hair was completely drenched, our makeup stayed on perfect all night, ha!

If you could have a makeover, what look would you ask for?

April Favourites!

I’m only 9 days late with this favourites post!  This is a quick blog post including some of my favourite products that I’ve been using through out the month of April.  I also filmed a short video explaining why I picked out these products, which you can watch below!

MAC’s Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Modern Pewter – A gorgeous shimmery gold green which I’ve been wearing all over my lids and smudged under my eyes throughout April.

Sure Maximum Protection Deodorant* – You can see my full review on this here, but this deodorant has become a firm favourite of mine because it works!  I do not sweat at all when wearing this bad boy!

17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in Dreamy – I can’t express in words how much I love this lipstick!  It is the most perfect bright pink for Spring and I can’t stop wearing it!  I love the colour, packaging and price of this lippie and would recommend it to anyone!

Nail Inc Basil Street Nail Varnish – I’ve had this for a while but have recently rediscovered it.  This is the most perfect natural nude colour for my nails.  I find it incredibly easy to wear and I love that it makes my hands (out outfit) look more elegant and mature.

Orly Mini Polish in Jealous, Much…?* – This mini polish has really surprised me.  I normally steer clear from green polishes but this is just a beauty.  A creamy, pale, mint green which looks gorgeous on my pale hands.  I really adore this colour and will definitely be purchasing a full size!

Kevin Murphy Born Again Moisture Therapy Shampoo & Masque – These are two hair products which deserve a whole post of their own.  Using both the shampoo and masque completely restores my hair back to its softest.  I’ve been using these a lot through out the past month to put some moisture back into my locks and I can swear on them to work a treat!

I will write full reviews of both the lipstick and hair products very soon so you can hear about them in more detail.

What have been your favourite products from the month of April?  Do we have any favourites in common?

My Makeup Collection/Storage Video!

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love watching makeup collection/storage videos on youtube.  I love seeing how people store their makeup, how much they have and generally just being really nosey, so I thought I’d film one of my own today!

I am a little nervous about posting this as I don’t want people to think I’m showing off or being greedy, but after decorating my room and being happy with the way I now store my makeup I thought I might as well show you guys!  Anyway, I hope you enjoy having a nose.

If you have any questions about where I purchased my storage or want a closer look at a particular product you spotted, then do let me know!

How do you store your makeup?  Do you prefer Muji or Ikea for storage solutions?

Bourjois 123 Foundation Review

I haven’t done a foundation review in absolutely ages (since 2010 to be exact), but I think those pale babes out there will be pleased to know that I have got lots more coming up very soon!  Starting off today with this new foundation from Bourjois.

I haven’t tried a foundation from Bourjois before, mainly because I didn’t think their shade range was suited much to pale skin, but after the Bourjois event I thought their foundations sounded pretty fab and so I had to try them for myself.

The Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation is unique because it boosts it has 3 correcting pigments to sort out all imperfections.  These are yellow pigments to help with dark circles, mauve pigments for an anti-dull complexion and green pigments to help with redness.  Sound perfect right?!  Read on for my full review!

  • COLOUR – I have to be honest straight away and admit that the lightest shade in this foundation (51) is still a little too dark for me.  In sunlight it is very obvious that I am wearing a foundation and the shade doesn’t match up to my neck exactly.  I think this might be slightly better for me in the summer when I’m a little darker.
  • COVERAGE – I really like the coverage of this foundation.  As you can see above it pretty much covers all blemishes and really evens my skin tone out.  I could use a touch more of concealer on top just to make my skin perfect, but I don’t mind doing that!
  • FORMULA/finish – The formula of this foundation is pretty weird to me, but I like it.  It is a thick liquid which dries as a powder, matte finish which I really like.  When my skin is bad, I much prefer a matte foundation to a dewy one so this is perfect.  The liquid does feel quite thick at first but after blending properly it isn’t an issue.
  • PRICE – This retails at £10.99 (but is currently only £6.99 online at Boots), which is a pretty standard price for a high street foundation.
  • SPF – This has SPF 10 which is good for all year round!

Sunlight – you can vaguely see around my hair line that it is a little too dark for my skin.

What I think – I do think this really evens out my redness and dark circles with its correcting pigments and I really like the formula and finish, I just wish that there was more of a colour range!  If the colour matched my skin I would be wearing this all the time, but at the moment I’m sticking to wear it out in the evenings when it isn’t as noticeable.
I like the packaging and the fact it has a pump, but some people may not like the glass bottle if they travel a lot (this isn’t an issue for me though).  Also – the smell of this foundation is quite nice, it’s like a powdery, baby, talc smell which you notice upon application (this fades shortly afterwards though).

For £10.99 in high street chemists it is definitely worth a go if you have slightly darker skin than me.

Have you tried Bourjois’ 123 Perfect Foundation before?  What’s your favourite high street foundation?

MAC Ravishing Lipstick Swatches!

You should all know about my absolute love for peachy orange lipsticks by now!  I picked up MAC’s Ravishing lipstick a few months ago and have cherished it ever since.

Ravishing has a Cremesheen formula so it is deliciously creamy and moisturizing on the lips.  It applies with ease, has good colour pay off and lasts pretty well on the lips.  The shade of this lippie is just beautiful, it looks quite orange in the tube but is very easy to wear.  I find myself reaching for this product a lot because it looks perfect when worn dressed up on a night out and it isn’t too dramatic to wear daily either.
I think this would look gorgeous with a tan in the summer, but it brightens up my pale complexion so it’s a definite thumbs up from me.

What is your favourite MAC lipstick?

Wednesday, 2 May 2012 S/S Event & Diana Vickers Range!

I’ve decided that I’m going to start posting a little more about fashion here on my beauty blog.  I love clothes, styling and trends but think I’m personally terrible at putting an outfit together!  However, I’ve recently been very inspired by a few brands in particular, and so over the next month I’ll be featuring them here on my blog!

First up is  I attended the press day for the launch of their Diana Vickers collaboration range a few weeks ago and wanted to show you what's in store!  I think Diana and I have a very common taste in clothes – for example we were both wearing cream lace tops at the event – so at least I’m going right somewhere!

Diana & I at the event!

The Dee Vee by Diana Vickers Range -
Diana wore pieces from her collab with Very – a cream lace top and snake skinny jeans which complimented each other perfectly.  I would be a bit self conscious wearing snake skin trousers, but printed/patterned jeans are in at the moment so I’d love to try the trend out!  I absolutely adore the cream chunky knit jumper in her collection, as well as a bright teal green skirt which would be perfect for adding a bit of colour to your look this summer (both pictured below).

7 5

Holly and Fearne’s Collections -
A rail consisting solely of Holly Willoughby’s and Fearne Cotton’s collections instantly caught my eye.  I think both women are incredibly stylish and always look great, so it was nice to see pieces that they’ve designed.  I love this horse Print Playsuit by Holly, and this cream pleated midi skirt by Fearne.

I am a complete shoe addict and whenever I go shopping, I normally go straight to the shoe section of the shop.  I adore wedges as they add height whilst being relatively comfortable so when I spotted the beauties below I was in shoe heaven.  The black pair are perfect for any outfit and the pink pair are absolutely amazing – I need them in my life!

S/S -
Absolutely gorgeous prints, patterns and textures stood out to me in the S/S collections.  I love all things sparkly which sequins so it was nice to see some dressy clothes.  I also spotted some gorgeous dresses which will be perfect for parties, picnics and BBQs in the following months.

You can buy Diana’s range at here!

What do you like the look of in this post?  Have you ever bought from
